Boys Varsity Soccer @ Everest Invitational

On Saturday, August 21st, Boys soccer started off their season with a strong showing at the Everest Invitational, playing host school Everest, as well as Roeper and Allen Park Cabrini.
The Crusaders had a strong showing in the heat, with a 2-2 draw against Everest, a 6-0 win against Cabrini, and a 2-1 win against Roeper.
The Crusaders moved the ball well, and persevered through the heat to go 2-0-1 on the day.
The player of the day for the Crusaders was Cole Bieber, with 5 goals and 2 assists in the tournament.
The Crusader's next game is against the joint Southfield Christian and Novi Christian squad on Thursday, played at Southfield Christian.

On 8/22 the Crusaders were MIA as they were soundly defeated by Shrine 6-1. A complete opposite from the previous game; the Crusaders struggled to possess the ball in a midfield that was overloaded by Shrine's immediate pressure on the ball. with a slow start, going into halftime down 4-0 the Crusaders were able to capitalize on a front post run by Joseph Morrison on a Jacob Ponder corner kick.
The woes just kept coming as Shrine was awarded a PK (which was converted) and a turnover in midfield led to a "deflection" to a Shrine forward in an offside position which brought the final tally to 6-1.
After this rough game the Crusaders look to regroup and refocus as they prepare to take on Southfield Christian on 8/27

Last night the Crusaders hosted the Ventures of Bishop Foley in boys soccer. The game was mostly even in the first half, with the Crusaders having a slight edge in possession until the Ventures capitalized on a marking mishap off of a throw-in and were able to enjoy a 1-0 lead going into halftime. The second half saw possession turn even heavier towards the Crusaders favor, with Sam Griswold finishing a breakaway to bring the score to level. The Ventures were awarded a PK after some nifty footwork in the Crusaders 18 led to a careless foul. Stepping up to take the kick, the Ventures effort was thwarted by Freshman goalkeeper Lucas Gaertner with a huge fingertip save on his birthday!
After some back and forth physical play; Crusaders forward Tom McCann was taken down in the penalty box by the Ventures goalkeeper on a breakaway and was awarded a PK, which Sam Griswold buried to bring the Crusaders ahead 2-1! Congratulations to the Varsity Golf Team for it's victory on Monday, May 1 over Plymouth Christian! The Crusaders beat the Eagles by a final score of 216-239. Low scores for the Crusaders were recorded by Kevin Schrupp (49) and Matt Giannetti (51) who led Northwest in cold, windy conditions ~ nice job!

Great night for LHNW Bowling...celebrated Senior night with a victory against Notre Dame Prep...The team was led by Matt Candela,s 252 game and Christian Newcomb's 247, also Evan Bowlds threw a nice 205 game.
